I am Rita Wandy Ampomaah, Founder of Ritwand Foods.

I registered Ritwand in 1987 as BN-62,951A with one belief: Ghanaian products deserve to meet world standards without losing their Ghanaian soul.

For the first 13 years, Ritwand operated as a general merchant involved in import, export, and small-scale manufacturing. We became members of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Shippers Council, and the Association of Small-Scale Industries.

During this period, I produced cosmetics for the Ghana National Trading Corporation, exported Ghanaian products to SINTA in the Netherlands, imported screen-printing inks from Lancer Group International in Canada, and operated my own screen-printing business for funeral cloth production.

In 1998, Ritwand achieved Ghana International approval — an early milestone that reinforced our commitment to quality, compliance, and long-term excellence.

After living and working in the Netherlands for 34 years, I returned to Ghana in 2014 to expand the vision. I registered Food Services Ghana to enter the frozen bakery and cakes market, and by 2017, we received Ghana FDA certification for that product line.

However, between 2014 and 2017, we faced a four-year delay in securing the 480W industrial power connection needed to operate the commercial kitchen equipment I had imported from Europe. Just six months after power was finally connected, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted operations globally.

I returned to Europe to regroup, and two years later, I experienced the painful loss of my husband of 30 years.

In 2024, I returned once again to Ghana to continue the vision I first began in 1997. We upgraded our production facility to double manufacturing capacity and refocused on Ritwand’s core instant foods line.

Today, after 39 years of dedication, we have worked closely with the FDA, local farmers, distributors, and consumers to build products that meet strict food safety standards while carrying Ghana’s pride in every pack.

“Ghanaian food is not just what we eat. It is who we are. At Ritwand, we package that pride so it can travel anywhere in the world without losing its taste.”

To our partners and customers, thank you for believing in Ghanaian food and in what we are building together. The journey is only beginning.
